My research has been supported by DARPA, the U.S. Navy, the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Army, and IBM.

I am also a chaplain at Boulder Community Hospital and I serve as the pastor of First United Methodist Church of Pierce, Colorado.

I received my B.A. in Math from Occidental College and my Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Southern California. I am also a graduate of the seminary at the Iliff School of Theology.

I grew up in Oxnard, California, and currently live in Boulder, Colorado.

My areas of expertise in technology include 3D modeling and animation with Maya, audio editing and repair, database and information system design, and multiplayer, networked game development with Unity.

As a pastor, I love to deliver historically-rooted, biblically-based, inclusive messages with lessons that are relevant to all people today..

I believe in living with empathy, forgiveness, and generosity, and with a genuine concern for the welfare of all people, regardless of their ethnic roots, personal lifestyle, or their spiritual practices.

Faith Podcast

Buzz's Podcast on Grace and Joy thru Scripture:

Electric Faith

Please see the Electric Faith website for the avatar-based, 3D virtual environment for small group meetings:

Electric Faith

… is an extension ministry of the United Methodist Church -

But Electric Faith can be used for free by any nonprofit group of people that serves humanity.

Electric Faith is a multi-user, distributed environment - consisting of a church, a house, a forest, and a fantasy forest scene - built with the video game development system Unity and coded in C#.

Electric Faith can be used for small group meetings. Enter as an avatar and use it as an alternative to voice-only online meetings!

It is free for use.

From Nurnberg, probably 1922

My wife's grandmother probably drew this. It's written in the old German script - and we cannot read it.

I just happen to love the drawings...
